Job Responsibilities:

The Civil Project Coordinator will be reporting to the Track Manager or designate. The Project Coordinator provides support and assistance to ensure the smooth execution of the assigned projects. Responsibilities are varied but include documentation and information management, record keeping, cost control, coordinating timely delivery of supplies and material, tracking project progress, maintaining project files, estimating projects, ensuring quality control and safety, trouble shooting and follow up. The Project Coordinator will liaise with the Regional Office, customer, and other key stakeholders as related to the project. This is an entry level position intended to provide training for advancement to more senior level positions in the Company.

Duties and Responsibilities of the Project Coordinator:

  1. Assesses and/or prepares scope of work required to successfully fulfill project requirements.

  2. Prepares budget and revenue estimates based on the scope of work and specifications.

  3. Develops project schedules.

  4. Prepares work plans and methodologies, including but not limited to obtaining necessary permits, organizing resources, developing logistics and coordinating tasks between different stakeholders.

  5. Assists in procuring material, equipment, and services.

  6. Prepares supporting reports and documents as per the project requirements responsibilities.

  7. Attends internal meetings, meetings with the clients and other stakeholders.

  8. Monitors and evaluates performance of on-site employees and subcontractors.

  9. Develops all required documentation for the submission of project related invoices.

  10. Investigates and reports all issues arising during all stages of project.

  11. Prepares and analyses cost, budget, production and other reports as requested by the management team.

  12. Actively engages and promotes safety culture. Ensures that safety and quality control standards are followed at all times.

  13. Performs other related administrative or project based duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree or diploma in a related field of study such as Civil Engineering, Contract Management or Project Management.

  • Experience working in the construction industry and asset.

  • Encompasses general concepts of project management.

  • Efficiency with business and construction software such as Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project, Microsoft Outlook, Primavera P6, Hard Dollar, or JD Edwards an asset.

    • Minimum 2 references are required from your previous employment.* References can be your direct supervisor or senior colleagues.

Physical/Travel/Attendance Requirements

  • This is full-time office position.

  • Occasional weekend or night work may be required.

  • Occasional exposure to outdoor construction sites in all weather conditions may be required.

  • Majority of the field work is on and around live track (trains).

  • Field work may be in urban, rural or isolated areas. Accommodations and transportation will be provided, if required.
